VIA was part of the exhibition „Otros usos instrumentales“ (engl. other way to use instruments) in Montevideo/ Uruguay. The intension of this group exhibition was the artificial intervention in this public area.

 

The structure of VIA consists of two parts. The two meter long rail, that was already at „Plaza Goes“ where the exhibition took place and and a hammer. The hammer“ is an 1,30 m high construction with two feeds, made of concrete and wood, with two wood legs, a metal rod, that connects this two parts and a rubber mallet. 

 

The participants could use the hammer interactive to hammer against the rail. The rail sounds like a bell and was audible in the whole area around the „Plaza Goes“. The idea of the sculpture was to intervene in the existing subjects at this area. Just by using small constructions to make „death“ objects alive. 

 

Like the grand Renée Pietrafesa said one day: „There are sounds everywhere around us. Lets wake them up“
