SoundsArtSculptures
A sound sculpture, that misappropriated a turntable. Dedicated not to scan the vinyls anymore, but the the local floor.
bodenplattenspieler (german for floor turntable) is a sculpture, that makes the floor audible. The turntable is prepared with an one meter plastic rod. At the end of this rod is an contact mikrophon, that scans the floor. The sound get broadcasted with one active speaker, which is not visible.
Cause the turntable is not an common player anymore, the room for the installation was closed. Only one door was half open, that visitors could look and listen to the bodenplattenspieler.
The floor at the Exhibition in Marl was a hairy carpet. So the sound was with a lot of crackles and a proper rhythm. So bodenplattenspieler is not an installation for a special room, but a experiment how you can make architecture audible. Every room with his floor can get an audible fingerprint with this soundsculpture.
